The minister, Revd John Haley, was appointed in September 2025. John is evangelical in approach and believes in the importance of personal faith and preaching and teaching the Bible. There are regular Bible study groups (at Yelverton on Tuesdays at 2.00 pm and at Tavistock on Mondays at 7.00 pm). These are advertised in the quarterly magazine ‘Rock Matters’. John is pleased to receive enquiries about baptisms and weddings. He is also available to conduct funerals at the chapel or at cemeteries/crematoria. For further information about John see www.donttakemywordforit.co.uk
The present chapel was opened by the Bible Christians in 1907 and an important feature is the stained-glass window, ‘Christ’s Journey to Emmaus’ (see Luke 24:13-35). This was a significant Bible passage in the life of John Wesley, whose inspiring story includes his account of feeling his ‘heart strangely warmed’. His record of this life-changing experience continued, ‘I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone for salvation, and an assurance was given me that he had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.’
The church hosts occasional services of a Romanian Orthodox Congregation.
